Every time I prepare this recipe, I am astonished by how delicate and delicious it is. The “Coquille St Jacques” scallop dish is the quintessential winter delicacy. Not so well known in USA, it is a classic, old French Bistro dish.
It can be finished with vegetables “au gratin” or topped only with a Béchamel sauce.
In France, we bought the scallops with their shells which are beautiful. In our stores, this is less poetic. They are sold in a bag..To serve the dish in an elegant way, I suggest you buy these shells.
You will find them in “Mise en Place”. This store is located in downtown Lancaster just across from The Belvedere Restaurant on Queen Street.
By the way, this store is the place to know, if you are looking for culinary utensils, dishes, pots, etc. I love it.
